BFST, the1st Provincial Food Safety Team in the country

The Bohol Food Safety Team – a project of the Integrated Technology System & Support Amenities for Food Enterprises (ITS SAFE) – was launched at the Island City Mall Activity Center on July 24, 2008. The Bohol Food Safety Team will make sure that all can avail of the services for product development, and that when the product gets to the consumer, it is still safe to eat. Food Safety is not only important to tourists since all of us eat. Bohol has an industry where the consumer profile is not only local but international as well. Bohol Food Safety Team (BFST)- is the 1st Provincial Food Safety Team in the country who has undergone series of rigid trainings conducted by the Department of Science and Technology Region VII Office (DOST-7). The team provides the following training/consultancy services: Training Services Food Safety Orientations Basic Food Safety Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HCCP) Consultancies Food Audit Onsite Assessment Plant Lay-out or improvement MANY WOULD ASK WHY IS THERE A NEED FOR THEM TO UNDERGO TRAININGS ON FOOD SAFETY? – As we all know, a number of food alerts are creating a genuine concern among consumers, the issue of Food Safety and Hygiene has become a primary concern and is the first yardstick by which food businesses are judged by their customers. The Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry has recently conducted a seminar revolving around the management of family businesses. The seminar entitled “Family Business Management seminar”, took placed at Panglao Island Nature Resort on June 28, 2008. Free Medical, Dental mission for BDRC inmates

The Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), together with the Provincial Government of Bohol, Rotary Club of Tagbilaran, and Fely’s Jewelry and Pawnshop sponsored a free medical and dental mission last October 5, 2007 for the inmates of the Bohol Detention & Rehabilitation Center (BDRC). A total of 253 inmates, visiting spouses and children benefited the free medical and dental clinic, 183 medical patients and 70 were dental patients. After the half day event , Rotary Club President Louella “Baby” Bantol, BCCI President Norris Oculam and BBCI Trustee Dinah Ramiro dared to go inside the Prison Compound, a maximum security area without hesitation to jam with the band of the BDRC inmates.
