“Better and clearer branding.” This is seen by Senator Mar “Mr. Palengke” Roxas as the immediate need for Bohol to boost the province’s development and to fully harness the potentials to further attract investors.

Roxas shared his concern for Bohol’s development during the general assembly and election of members to compose the board of the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (BCCI) at the Bohol Tropics last March 17, 2006.

The senator graced the meeting with the Boholano business community wherein 17 members of the chamber were elected to compose the board. Roxas gave due recognition to the elected members of the board, namely: Norris Oculam, John Yap, Baby Collins, Pureza Chatto, Loy Palapos, Dinah Ramiro, Warren Yap, RG Ong, Mario Uy, Kurt Beibelman, Argeo Melisimo, Cecil Yap, Restituto Tan, Albert Uy, Eddie Uy, Helen Veloso and Salvador Diputado.

In his speech, the senator expressed that the province should package her investment proposals in a way which is competitive to the global market.

Roxas added that the stakeholders must make its decisive decision to choose whether Bohol should go for mass tourism or focus on high end marketing.

This point was stressed by Senator Roxas saying that the global economy is a tall order for each business proponent to present its potentials in a way that will make it distinct and attractive compared to other business proposals.

The senator’s concerns were gratefully considered by the Bohol business community. For the part of the BCCI, the inspiring statement of the senator was in line with the vision statement of the community which commits to the upliftment of the economic, political and social well-being of the province of Bohol.

Boholano hospitality welcomed the senator upon his arrival at the Tagbilaran city airport by BCCI President Norris Oculam, DTI Reg’l Director Aster Caberte, City Kagawads Toto Veloso, Urbano Lagunay, Macky Olario, Edi Borja and Edgar Bompat.
